Fly Fish

Windy Waters RV park is located literally steps away from some of the best trout fishing in the nation. The Grey Reef section of the North Platte is a Blue Ribbon Fishery that sits right across the street and offers multiple public access points whether you are looking to wade fish or launch your drift boat.

A ten minute drive up the road will lead you to Fremont Canyon. The rugged beauty and scenic views of the canyon coupled with it’s premier fishing access is sure to be a highlight of your time in Alcova.

Last, but certainly not least, another 40 minutes up the road will bring you to the Miracle Mile. The Miracle Mile is the mecca of fly fishing in the West and is the ultimate angler’s paradise.

Climb mountains

We may be a bit biased, but if you’re looking to conquer a mountain or two, you’ve come to the right place. Whether you fancy hiking, biking or climbing, our area is filled with hidden gems sure to keep you coming back for more. Explore some of our best kept, local secrets below:

Climbing
Fremont Canyon is an absolute hidden gem. The North Platte River cuts through towering rock walls, making the climb just as beautiful as it is challenging.

All Trails Wyoming
All Trails has 1,013 hiking trails, mountain biking routes, and backpacking trips in Wyoming. Plan your next outdoor adventure to one of 881 routes with waterfalls or scenic views, 267 family friendly hikes, and 48 wheelchair-friendly trails with helpful accessibility guidance.

Alcova Reservoir

Hunt big & Small Game

The iconic wide-open spaces of Wyoming make for legendary hunting opportunities. Find elk, deer, pronghorn, pheasants, turkeys and more within close proximity of Alcova.

Wyoming Backcountry Discovery Route (WYBDR)

The Wyoming Backcountry Discovery Route (WYBDR) is a multi-day off-pavement ride for dual-sport and adventure motorcycles through Wyoming. If this is your idea of adventure, find us conveniently located at the end of Section 3, beginning of Section 4 in Alcova, across the street from Sloane’s General Store.

We are the perfect mid-route location to rest up, clean-up (we have amazing walk-in showers), or spend a couple nights taking in all the area has to offer. A bathhouse with washer/dryer is available to Windy Waters guests.

No RV? No problem! We have two (2) fully furnished park models available to rent. Additionally, we offer multi-day trailer parking between WYBDR sections.

Visit Casper

Nestled in the heart of Wyoming, about a 30-minute drive East from Alcova, lies Casper, Wyoming. As the second largest city in the state, Casper strikes the perfect balance between urban and country. Small town vibes with big city amenities, the Oil City holds the best of both worlds.

Head to Casper Mountain to camp or hit the trails or explore the town’s local shops, museums, restaurants
and booming culinary and brewery scene. Whether you’re simply escaping to run an errand or in the mood for some western culture, Casper is worth the trip.
